Market UpdateThe Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver released their September 2013 residential home sales statistics on October 2, 2013. The Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver (REBGV) reports that residential property sales in Greater Vancouver reached 2,483 on the Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) in September 2013. This represents a +63.8% increase compared to the 1,516 sales recorded last year in September 2012. “It’s important to remember that stronger sales activity does not necessarily equate to rising home prices. In fact, home prices have not fluctuated much in our market this year,”says Sandra Wyant, REBGV president. The MLS® Home Price Index composite benchmark price for all residential properties in Greater Vancouver is currently $601,900. This represents a decline of 0.7 per cent compared to this time last year and an increase of 2.3 per cent compared to January 2013.
